Hi, my name is Jo Skinner and I am the proud owner of Fairlands Day Nursery. I have lived in the Wickham area for most of my life and now live close by in Botley.
I have worked at Fairlands Nursery for 22 years and was lucky enough, in 2008 to become Manager/Owner.
Fairlands Day Nursery is a rural setting located in Shedfield between the villages of Botley and Wickham. Since 2008 we have enhanced our beautiful outdoor areas with a giant sandpit, bark pit, den area, mud kitchen and vegetable garden. Most recently we have developed a "Fairlands forest fen" which will also help to aid with social distancing at this time. Our indoor areas are divided into 4 departments; Wrigglers, Waddlers, Lower Nursery and Pre-school. We also have a sensory area in each department and a cosy sleep room.
All of our rooms are tailored to meet your child's individual needs, ensuring they grow in confidence in a friendly and warm environment.
We have traditional values, an emphasis on good manners, and are dedicated to producing the best outcomes for your child. We pride ourselves on our family orientated approach, as we aim to create a home from home environment. We have close links with the communities of both Shedfield and Wickham, and are lucky enough to have the church on our doorstep.
We follow the Early Years Foundation stage curriculum, focusing on 7 areas of development: Personal, social and emotional development Communication and language, Physical development, Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding the world and Expressive arts and design.
We offer nursery education for children aged 9 months - 5 years and provide 15 hours free nursery education per week (up to 570 hours per year) for every child (from the term after which they are 3 up to compulsory school age).
We also offer 30 hours free nursery education per week (up to 1140 hours per year) for those 3-4 year old children who are elegible.
2 year old funding is also available. We received a 'Good' OFSTED in all areas in 2015 and 2018. Our most recent report is available to read here.
